# Documentation MCP

**This server reads documentation only.** To read leads, update products, use analytics, or export your workspace data, connect the [Native Insyder MCP](/en/guides/native-mcp) instead. It uses `https://api.insyder.io/mcp` and requires OAuth sign-in or a personal Insyder API key. You can connect both under different names: **Insyder API Docs** and **Insyder Native**.

The Insyder documentation site exposes a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. A compatible AI assistant can use it to search these guides, discover endpoints, inspect request and response schemas, and understand authentication requirements from the current OpenAPI contract.

## Server endpoint

```text
https://docs.insyder.io/mcp
```

The Claude and ChatGPT buttons take you to the setup instructions below. Other MCP clients can add the HTTPS endpoint manually as a remote Streamable HTTP server.

The documentation server is public and does not require authentication or an Insyder API key.

## Connect to Claude

1. Open [Claude](https://claude.ai) and go to **Customize > Connectors**.
2. Select **+ > Add custom connector**.
3. Name the connector **Insyder API Docs** and enter `https://docs.insyder.io/mcp` as the remote MCP server URL. Leave the optional OAuth fields empty.
4. Select **Add**, then enable the connector from **+ > Connectors** in your conversation.

For a Team or Enterprise workspace, an owner must first add the connector in **Organization settings > Connectors**. See [Claude's custom connector instructions](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp) for details.

## Connect to ChatGPT

1. Open [ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com) and enable **Developer mode** in **Settings > Security and login**.
2. Go to **Plugins** and select the **+** button to add an MCP server.
3. Name it **Insyder API Docs** and describe it as **Search Insyder documentation and inspect the public API contract**.
4. Under **Connection**, enter `https://docs.insyder.io/mcp`. Choose **No authentication** if prompted, then create the connection and review the discovered tools.
5. Start a conversation and select the connection from the tools menu.

Developer mode availability depends on your account and workspace policy. See [OpenAI's MCP connection instructions](https://developers.openai.com/plugins/deploy/connect-chatgpt#test-an-mcp-server-optional) if your settings differ.

## Available documentation tools

The published tools can list APIs and endpoints, return endpoint details and security schemes, search the documentation, and provide the complete API description.

Documentation served to MCP agents is in **English by default**, independently of the website language. The search tool accepts `locale: "fr"` to explicitly request French results. The OpenAPI contract served through MCP remains in English.

These tools are read-only. Connecting the MCP server does not include an API key, grant workspace access, or execute requests against `api.insyder.io`.

The MCP server cannot:

- Bypass API-key permissions or access an unselected workspace.
- Read or change data in an Insyder workspace.
- Expose connection credentials, raw provider payloads, or connection configuration.
- Run operations that are absent from the public API, including connection, synchronization, and analysis controls.

## Credential safety

Never paste an `insyder_live_` key into a chat prompt or the **documentation MCP** configuration. This public server does not need one. The [native MCP](/en/guides/native-mcp) uses OAuth consent for hosted Claude and ChatGPT connections, or a key in a private client configuration; follow its connection instructions to grant workspace access.

Use this server for documentation discovery. To work with your data, connect the [native MCP](/en/guides/native-mcp) or call `https://api.insyder.io/v1` from your integration.
